Monday revealed that Philadelphia Eagles star tight end Zach Ertz fractured a rib during Sunday's vital home win over the Dallas Cowboys in Week 16. Ertz and the Eagles defeated the Cowboys yesterday to keep the dream alive of winning the NFC East and punching another trip to the NFL postseason.

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport on Twitter via Eagles Wire, the 29-year-old Ertz played through the rib injury yesterday.

A three-time Pro-Bowl tight end, Ertz made four receptions for 28 yards in the penultimate regular-season week's win. On the season, the former second-round pick of the Eagles in the 2013 NFL Draft out of Stanford has totaled 916 receiving yards on 88 receptions, scoring six touchdowns.

As of now, Ertz is questionable for next week's uber important matchup with the New York Giants with a chance to take the division title. Ertz's status has been a common theme during the 2019 Eagles season, as the veteran tight end has appeared in every game, giving franchise quarterback Carson Wentz a reliable pass-catcher in Philly's offense. However, Ertz has been questionable multiple times during the year and before fracturing a rib on Sunday he had previously been nursing a hamstring injury.

The Eagles, of course, have had their offensive weapons neutralized due to other injuries, including season-ending ones to wide receivers Alshon Jeffery and DeSean Jackson. In almost a process of elimination, Ertz has withstood injuries and now stands as one of the more veteran and stable targets for Ertz in the waning days of the 2019 regular season, which is make or break for Philly.
