The injuries just keep piling up for the Philadelphia Eagles, even with some key players on the verge of return. Following an in-game ankle tweak sustained in Week 6 against the Baltimore Ravens, it is now been confirmed that Zach Ertz will be sidelined for a period of four to six weeks with what has been diagnosed as a high ankle sprain.

This latest injury update comes via NFL insider Mike Garafolo:

Ertz was helped off the field during Philadelphia's Week 6 loss to the Ravens, in which the 29-year-old caught 4-of-10 targets for 33 yards. He was visibly in pain during the contest and was forced to exit the game eventually.

The initial diagnosis was that he was going to be out for no longer than a month, which means that this recent development is somewhat of a worst-case scenario for both Ertz and the Eagles. According to the report, Philadelphia will also be placing the 6-foot-5 tight end on injured reserved, which makes a lot of sense given how he won't be back until around Thanksgiving.

Ertz will join WR Jalen Reagor, TE Dallas Goedert, OL Jason Peters, OT Andre Dillard, and G Isaac Seumalo on the Eagles' growing IR list. Some good news for Philadelphia is that Goedert could be back soon, which should help boost their shorthanded offense.

The 1-4-1 Eagles are set to face the 1-5 New York Giants on Thursday, as they hope to put an end to their two-game losing streak. It's going to be anything but a cakewalk for them, though, given how their squad has been besieged by numerous injuries.
