The Philadelphia Eagles are looking to stay in the win column as they get set to host the Chicago Bears in Week 9. They are hoping to have wide receiver DeSean Jackson back into the mix.

Jackson has been sidelined since Week 2 with an abdomen injury. Head coach Doug Pederson is optimistic that he will be able to play against the Bears, via Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer:

“I’m optimistic that he’ll go.” Have to see how he gets through today and the rest of the weekend.”

This is undoubtedly an encouraging sign regarding Jackson's status for Week 9. His absence has left a rather notable void in the receiving corps and it is safe to say that quarterback Carson Wentz will be happy to have him back in the mix.

The pair had shown plenty of rapport together after connecting for eight receptions, 154 yards, and two touchdowns in the 2019 NFL season opener. Jackson is still very capable of taking the top off opposing defenses at this stage in his career. His return should help to bring an added element of explosiveness to this offense that it has been sorely lacking in recent weeks.

It is no secret that the Bears boast on of the most formidable defensive groups in the league. Aside from talented pass rushers, they are also capable of defending over the top with their stingy secondary. This could be why Pederson is holding out hope that Jackson will be able to make his return.

His continued participation in practice this week should help to solidify his status for Week 9.
