The Philadelphia Eagles were embarrassed by the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday Night Football and they've begun to clean house because of it. According to Reuben Frank, Philadelphia has released defensive tackle Akeem Spence.

The Eagles also signed Anthony Rush from the Oakland Raiders' practice squad to replace Spence. Spence signed with Philadelphia near the beginning of the season and has played in six games.

With Malik Jackson out for the season and Hassan Ridgeway exiting early in Sunday's game, Spence was asked to fill in along the defensive line. As a result, the veteran defensive tackle totaled two tackles in Week 7 against the Cowboys.

Apparently, his play on the field wasn't enough for him to remain with the team beyond Week 7. However, Spence isn't the only defensive player who's been shown the door in recent weeks.

Just last week, the Eagles chose to release Zach Brown following the team's blowout loss to the Minnesota Vikings. Though, Brown was released from the team due to his comments pertaining to Kirk Cousins during the week of practice leading up to the game.

Now, this week, Orlando Scandrick is also among the players who are seeing the consequences of playing poor defense. The veteran cornerback was signed earlier in the season to help provide depth in the secondary due to the bevy of injuries at the position.

As for Rush, he comes to Philadelphia as an undrafted rookie out of Alabama-Birmingham. Unless Rush can cover John Brown down the seam; it's likely he won't see the field in Week 8 against the Buffalo Bills.
