The Philadelphia Eagles are in a tough spot having lost their starting running back Jay Ajayi for the rest of the year with a torn ACL that has put them potentially on the trade market to find a replacement.

This has thrown around several rumors concerning the team possibly scouring the league for possible moves that John Clayton of ESPN voiced that the Eagles could look to speak with the Chicago Bears about a potential move.

There had been some recent chatter concerning Howard not getting the workload that he would have expected given his ability on the field as he has rushed for 203 yards on 64 carries with a touchdown along with 10 catches for 78 receiving yards over the first four games played. This has seen him fail to crack more 100 rushing yards while tallying up no more than 82 yards in any contest with fewer than 40 yards twice. There simply hasn't been the touches that he would be expected to be given to him as he has tallied 15 or fewer carries in but once this season.

Howard has proven in his first years in the league that he has can be a workhorse running back after having put together back-to-back 1,000 rushing yard campaigns. This past year, he finished sixth with 1,122 rushing yards, third with nine rushing touchdowns and ninth with 70.1 rushing yards per game. Howard had also become the first player in franchise history to rush for at least 1,000 yards in each of his first two seasons while his 12 games with more than 100 rushing yards surpassing Hall of Famer Walter Payton (nine) for the most over the first two years in the league.

His addition to the Eagles would provide a significant upgrade with a running that the team could build with for the long haul next to quarterback Carson Wentz. However, given his talent level, it has hard to envision that the Bears would let him go especially after the strong to the year they have had winning three out of their first four games. Nonetheless, it is something to keep an eye on.
