The Philadelphia Eagles are reportedly considering a reunion with free-agent running back LeSean McCoy.

Tim McManus of ESPN said the two sides “talked” after the 2020 NFL Draft:

McCoy and the Eagles talked after this April's draft, a source said, and he remains an option. He rushed for 465 yards on 101 carries (4.6 avg.) with four touchdowns for the Kansas City Chiefs last season, but played one offensive snap in the playoffs.

McManus also said the Eagles are likely to sign one of McCoy, Devonta Freeman, or Carlos Hyde.

McCoy was one of the best running backs in football during his first stint with the Birds. He was named first-team All-Pro in both 2011 and 2013, leading the NFL in rushing yards and yards from scrimmage in the later season.

“Shady” was sort of cut from the same cloth as former Eagles running back Brian Westbrook: a change-of-pace back who made tons of plays in space and also posed as a receiving threat out of the backfield.

It makes sense the Eagles would look into adding McCoy, mostly because of how well he performed in Kansas City.

McCoy averaged 5.0 yards per touch, his highest mark since 2016. Though he did not play in the final two games of Kansas City's march to the Super Bowl, he has repeatedly said he wants to play in 2020.

The Eagles are high on second-year back Miles Sanders, who tallied over 1,300 yards from scrimmage last season. However, they lost Jordan Howard and could use an elusive back like McCoy when Sanders is out of the game.
