The Orlando Magic reached an agreement this week to sign Bismack Biyombo to a four-year, $72 million deal.

Biyombo previously said he wanted to remain in Toronto, and would consider a hometown discount if circumstances came to it, because he loved it there so much.

Money talks, as the saying goes, but that's not the only reason why he decided to leave. What was that extra push that ended up being the deciding factor to leave a team that embraced him so?

According to the Orlando Sentinel, team officials asked guard Elfrid Payton to accompany the them to help recruit Biyombo, and it worked:

It was cool. It was definitely an experience, definitely a sign of respect that they asked me to come with them. I’m grateful for that.

When asked about the main point of his pitch, he offered more:

Just about what direction we're trying to go in. We're really trying to get this defensive side going and getting out and running. [I was] just talking to him about his role and what we can ask of him and what we'd expect from him. That's kind of how we went about it.

Along with Payton, Biyombo gets to play alongside his fellow Congolese shot blocking teammate, Serge Ibaka, who was recently traded there from Oklahoma City.

Needless to say, the Magic have quickly improved their chances of making a trip to the postseason with the moves they've made this offseason.
