After suffering a herniated disc in his neck back in the 2012-2013 season, Emeka Okafor was forced to remain in the sidelines to receive treatment.

He has been a forgotten player despite having nine solid seasons in the NBA. However, things might change soon as the former Rookie of the Year winner has been finally cleared by doctors and is apparently already in touch with some teams that have shown interest in his services.

Okafor last played for the Washington Wizards five years ago and was performing well with averages of 9.7 points 8.8 rebounds, 1.2 assists, and 1.0 blocks in 26.0 minutes per game. He was a force inside the paint and made a name for himself as a tenacious rebounder, with the ability to change shots with his mere presence.

Should he be successful in making a comeback, he will need to prove that even at an advanced age of 35-years-old, he still has a lot left in the tank and can be productive in the potential playing time he’ll receive. The team that will sign him will take a small risk if he agrees to sign on a veteran’s minimum contract, but could reap decent rewards by taking a chance on him if Okafor plays close to the level that he was at prior to his unfortunate injury.
