Acho expressed his excitement to be joining the hit television program, while also touching on the issues the show has been dealing with of late:

“IT’S OFFICIAL: I’ve accepted the Rose and am honored to be hosting The Bachelor After the Final Rose this year,” he posted on Instagram “It’s been a pivotal season, and this episode will hopefully be one of the most storied shows in TV history. Empathy is needed and change is coming. Share the news! I’ll see y’all then.”

The Bachelor has recently made headlines following the decision of long-time host Chris Harrison made an announcement to step down from his post. Harrison's decision came after he received backlash for his comments defending contestant Rachell Kirkconnell, who herself was recently involved in some controversy regarding her issues with race.

Photos of Kirkconnell attending a plantation event recently surfaced, which drew the ire of more than a few folks all over social media (and beyond). Harrison came to the defense of Kirkconnell, calling out her critics. This was not received well by the public, which ultimately led to Harrison stepping down as the show's host. It remains unclear at this point if Harrison's departure is permanent and if Acho will take over his position moving forward.

Acho, a former Texas Longhorns standout, was drafted into the NFL by the Cleveland Browns in 2012. He had a short-lived, four-year stint in the NFL before taking on a career as a broadcaster with Fox Sports 1.
