Even before Lonzo Ball was selected by the Los Angeles Lakers with the second overall pick at the 2017 NBA Draft, all the attention was on him. From Ball's pass-first mentality to his father's antics, the former UCLA product enters the 2017-18 NBA season with plenty to prove.

At the Las Vegas Summer League, Ball showed his potential after averaging a near triple-double en route to the Most Valuable Player award. In a Q&A with Fred Katz, Enes Kanter discussed numerous topic including the point guard of the future:

I went to Hong Kong, people asked me about him. He’s good, but he played in summer league, not an actual NBA game yet.

While Kanter is right about Ball only playing in Summer League, his skill set should transfer over to the regular season and beyond. Although Ball's shooting percentage will need to improve, his ability to find teammates for easy points in transition will make him a fan favorite.

For the Thunder, they will be connected with the Lakers as Paul George and Russell Westbrook are expected to become unrestricted free agents. While George's interest in playing for his home team is well-documented, it remains to be seen if Westbrook will ultimately sign his five-year, $217 million contract extension.

The Lakers are expected to have two max contract slots after trading D'Angelo Russell and Timofey Mozgov to the Brooklyn Nets earlier this offseason.
