The Epic Games Store MEGA Sale kicks off with the mystery free game turning out to be the popular game Borderlands 3.
Borderlands 3 is the free game of the week for the Epic Games Store MEGA Sale. While Borderlands 3 will be offered for free for an entire week (until May 26), a new mystery game will be revealed every day, offered for free for 24 hours. We don't know yet if another MEGA freebie will come out next week to replace Borderlands 3, but we're sure that the free games will keep raining down while the MEGA Sale is going on. Hopefully all of the games would be fantastic, although we would always take free games with no complaints.
Borderlands 3 is the latest mainline title in the Borderlands series, a franchise of first-person-shooter games with a heavy emphasis on finding and collecting loot, eternally upgrading your gear with rarer, more powerful weapons. Borderlands 3 performed well both critically and commercially but was heavily criticized by fans for launching as an Epic Games Store exclusive, before the game launched on Steam a year later.
The Epic Games Store MEGA Sale is Epic's answer to the popular storefront Steam's Summer Sale, one of Steam's three major annual sales. The EGS MEGA Sale will run until June 11.
Just some of the games that are featured in the Epic Games Store MEGA Sale are Tiny Tina's Wonderlands at 20% off, Ghostwire Tokyo at 34% off, Far Cry 6 at 50% off, and Final Fantasy 7 Remake at 29% off, among others. Meanwhile, Borderlands 3 is currently on sale at 75% off on Steam.
