While Tom Brady has taken the leap to GOAT status after winning Super Bowl LV, things still aren’t so bad for Kansas City Chiefs superstar Patrick Mahomes, who has a long career ahead of him. The same thing can be said for one of his lucky fans who recently hit the jackpot.

This past weekend before the Super Bowl, Layton Sports Cards broke two 2020 Honors Football First Off The Line (FOTL) boxes. Keep in mind that this high-end product only contains four cards: one base, one exclusive parallel, and two autographs. It also commands a $1,399 price tag on the market right now.

Forrest, Layton Sports Cards’ resident breaker, opened the first box. The first three cards consisted of a Cracked Ice 11/15 rookie card of De’Andre Swift, Purple Kirk Cousins 5/7, and a Rookie Auto 6/9 of Jeff Okudah.

The last card from that first box would go on to trump those that came before it: a 2017 Contenders Playoff Ticket Rookie Auto of Patrick Mahomes. The kicker here is that this is a 1-of-1 card, making it the only one like it in existence.

As of the moment, there are no exact price comparisons yet for this monster pull. The closest to it would be a 2017 Contenders Patrick Mahomes Rookie of the Year Auto 1/1 encased in a BGS 8.5 slab. The price for this card reached $9,600 during an auction on Monday. It’s safe to say that the recently pulled Mahomes rookie auto card will fetch, or even exceed, that amount.

Even if Mahomes and his Chiefs lost to Brady’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the Super Bowl, the former’s future is shining brightly. The same can be said about this amazing card because its value will only go up as Mahomes forges his status as one of the NFL’s top stars in the years to come.

Congratulations on the card pull, Sean D.
