Charles Barkley is not a fan of small ball. Meanwhile, the addition of Kevin Durant to an already potent Golden State Warriors lineup sent shockwaves throughout the league. But apparently, it wasn't enough to change Sir Charles' mind.

In the brief lull before the opening of the American Century Championship, the gregarious NBA great made his thoughts known, in an article by Ron Kroichick for the San Francisco Chronicle, regarding Durant's impact on the Warriors.

Kevin changes the whole dynamic. But you’ve still got to rebound and play defense. That’s the key.

Barkley was also quick to use the Warriors' failure to overcome the Cleveland Cavaliers during the past season as proof that his thesis was sound.

It’s exactly what I said was going to happen: If they played a couple good teams, they were going to wear down. They weren’t going to make all those jump shots….They’ve got a great organization. I love Steph and Klay. But I don’t think small ball works, and it didn’t work in the Finals.

Maybe he just doesn't want to hand it to Golden State easily. But Barkley is one of the last remaining bastions of resistance against the rise of small ball and smart basketball analytics, and it seems like there is little that anyone can do to change his mind.
