The Pistons organization has been around since 1948. The franchise was originally called the Fort Wayne Pistons and held that name from 1948 to 1957 before becoming the Detroit Pistons in 1957-58.

Detroit has three championships in franchise history and an overall record of 2,753-2,927. The team has also made the playoffs a total of 42 times.

1948-49

The Fort Wayne Pistons traded Leo Mogus and cash to the Indianapolis Jets for Charlie Black.

1951-52

Fort Wayne sent Art Burris and cash to the Milwaukee Hawks for Dike Eddleman.

1952-53

The Pistons dealt Jack Kerris and Ralph O'Brien to the Baltimore Bullets for Don Boven and Fred Scolari.

1953-54

Fort Wayne traded cash to the Baltimore Bullets for Leo Barnhorst.

1958-59

The Pistons, who just moved to Detroit, sent George Yardley to the Syracuse Nationals for Ed Conlin.

1967-68

Detroit traded John Tresvant and Tom Van Arsdale to the Cincinnati Royals for Jim Fox and Happy Hairston.

1969-70

The Pistons sent Walt Bellamy to the Atlanta Hawks for John Arthurs.

Detroit also dealt Eddie Miles and a 1970 fourth-round pick to the Baltimore Bullets for Bob Quick and a 1970 second-round pick.

1977-78

The Pistons traded Ralph Simpson to the Denver Nuggets for Jim Price and a 1979 first-round pick.

1978-79

Detroit sent Earl Tatum to the Cleveland Cavaliers for Jim Brewer and future considerations.

1979-80

The Pistons dealt Bob Lanier to the Milwaukee Bucks for Kent Benson and a 1980 first-round pick.

1981-82

Detroit traded Phil Hubbard, Paul Mokeski, a 1982 first-round pick and a 1982 second-round pick to the Cleveland Cavaliers for Kenny Carr and Bill Laimbeer.

The Pistons sent Edgar Jones to the San Antonio Spurs for a 1984 second-round pick and a 1985 third-round pick.

1987-88

The Pistons traded Ron Moore and a 1991 second-round pick to the Phoenix Suns for James Edwards.

1988-89

Detroit sent Adrian Dantley and a 1991 first-round pick to the Dallas Mavericks for Mark Aguirre.

1992-93

The Pistons dealt Orlando Woolridge to the Milwaukee Bucks for Alvin Robertson.

1993-94

Detroit traded Olden Polynice to the Sacramento Kings for Pete Chilcutt, a 1994 second-round pick and a 1999 first-round pick.

2000-01

The Pistons sent Eric Montross and Jerome Williams to the Toronto Raptors for Tyrone Corbin, Kornél Dávid, Corliss Williamson and a 2005 first-round pick.

2003-04

As part of a three-team deal, Detroit acquired Rasheed Wallace from the Atlanta Hawks.

The Pistons sent Chucky Atkins, Lindsey Hunter and a 2004 first-round pick to the Boston Celtics. Detroit also traded Željko Rebrača, Bob Sura and a 2004 first-round pick to the Hawks for Wallace, who helped the Motor City franchise win the 2004 title over the Los Angeles Lakers.

2005-06

Detroit dealt Carlos Arroyo and Darko Milicic to the Orlando Magic for Kelvin Cato and a 2007 first-round pick.

2007-08

The Pistons traded Primoz Brezec to the Toronto Raptors for Juan Dixon and cash.

2008-09

Detroit sent Alex Acker and a 2011 second-round pick to the Los Angeles Clippers for a 2013 second-round pick.

2012-13

The Pistons traded Austin Daye and Tayshaun Prince to the Memphis Grizzlies for Jose Calderon.

2014-15

Detroit acquired Reggie Jackson from the Oklahoma City Thunder via a three-team trade that included the Utah Jazz. The Pistons sent D.J. Augustin, Kyle Singler and a 2019 second-round pick to the Thunder for Jackson.

Detroit also dealt a 2017 second-round pick to the Jazz and acquired Tayshaun Prince from the Boston Celtics for Gigi Datome and Jonas Jerebko in a separate trade.

2015-16

The Pistons traded Ersan İlyasova and Brandon Jennings to the Orlando Magic for Tobias Harris.

2017-18

Detroit dealt Avery Bradley, Tobias Harris, Boban Marjanović, a 2018 first-round pick and a 2019 second-round pick to the Los Angeles Clippers for Blake Griffin, Brice Johnson and Willie Reed.

The Pistons also traded Willie Reed and a 2022 second-round pick to the Chicago Bulls for Jameer Nelson.

Detroit finished the trade deadline in 2018 by sending Brice Johnson and a 2022 second-round pick to the Memphis Grizzlies for James Ennis.

2018-19

The Pistons traded Stanely Johnson to the New Orleans Pelicans and acquired Thon Maker from the Milwaukee Bucks as part of a three-team trade.

2019-20

Detroit sent Andre Drummond to the Cleveland Cavaliers for John Henson, Brandon Knight and a 2023 second-round pick.
