Ex-F1 driver Ralf Schumacher makes a wild claim concerning Red Bull's Max Verstappen and his close title race with Lewis Hamilton.

Mercedes' Hamilton has successfully garnered two recent race wins in Brazil and Qatar, pulling him closer within Verstappen's lead in the standings.

Hamilton is a seven-time world champion is hugely due to his skill. However, Schumacher stresses that Mercedes' silver arrow is quite unbeatable.

“The Mercedes is currently the more stable package,” Schumacher told Sky Germany.

“Max gives everything and shows how good he is. Under normal circumstances, however, he has no chance. Maybe he will have the luck that he has lacked so far.

“If he had that already at the beginning of the season, he might now be world champion.”

The former driver makes a wild comment, explaining the gap of Mercedes' machine and suggesting that Red Bull has to unconventional efforts just to outlast Mercedes and Hamilton.

“We have seen again here [in Qatar] that Mercedes is fast enough and does not have to cheat,” Schumacher added.

The F1 driver's championship is wide open with just two races to go, as Hamilton's door for a comeback is quite visible. Verstappen's 8-point lead is too slim to assure his safety of bagging his first crown, especially with a guy like Lewis Hamilton on his rear-view mirror.
