Despite securing a move to Mercedes next season, Russell shows some genuine concern for his team, especially during a challenging time.

“I think everybody within the team is frustrated with the lack of performance at the moment,”

“We need to go away and understand what's changed. We've got a few indications.

“We've normally had difficult Sundays, but we had the great Saturdays to sort of compensat[ing]. It's easier to hang on to a position than to attack for a position, given our car pace.”

This type of mentality looks like good news for Mercedes fans; signing Russell is the next step of their master plan to utilize a young and rising star to pair with Lewis Hamilton for future championship aspirations.

“We need to make the most of it in these last two [races] and make sure we seal that P8, because that's the main thing for us at the moment.”

However, for Williams as a team, they have been far from their prime in the past, currently standing at 8th in the F1 constructor's championship standings. Despite Russell's inevitable departure, will Williams have a winning culture anytime soon?
