F1 driver Lando Norris absolutely blasts the tire change rule during a red flag of a race.

During the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, Norris was sixth at the race's early stages. However, an accident by Mick Schumacher opted for a safety car, which prompted Norris to make a pitstop during this occurrence.

Unfortunately for the rising F1 star, once the red flag was shown, other drivers who didn't change tires took advantage and went for a fresh set of wheels—making Norris' pitstop strategy useless. The young British driver expressed his disappointment with this rule, sharing the same encounter last year.

“It's happened a few times, like obviously at Monza last year, you just get a free pitstop and it ruined our race,” Norris said. “Mugello, I think as well ruined our race, and here the same. Of course, I'm always on the bad end of it, so it probably sucks more for me than anyone, but I think it's just a very unfair rule that should be taken away.

“I think they should change it to one mandatory pitstop with two different tyre sets needed to be used, and then I think that's acceptable. But this just ruins everything, to be honest. You put so much effort in for it to be taken away for some stupid rule,” the F1 star exclaimed.

At some point in the race, Norris was at 14th, which can be a source of extra frustration for the young driver. He ultimately finished 10th, undoubtedly far from a desirable outcome by the team and Norris himself.

Despite the negative comments related to this F1 rule, those in charge are yet to make significant discussions on future changes.
