The Atlanta Falcons have a big game in Week 14 versus the formidable New Orleans Saints on Thursday Night Football. Not only would a win help the Falcons' playoff chances, but a victory over the Saints would put them within striking distance of the current leaders of the NFC South.
Fortunately, Atlanta has home-field advantage and have made it known they will be relying heavily on it on during their primetime game. According to Vaughn McClure of ESPN, head coach Dan Quinn is hoping the home crowd will be a bit more animated than they have all season:
“I used the analogy today, ‘We built a billion dollar house and we need to throw a billion dollar party house-warmer,'” Quinn said. “I think sometimes, we’re still using the coasters and we need to be as loud and fun as all we represent as a city. I wouldn’t say I’m disappointed. I think [fans] were looking at the new house and checking it out. So let’s hope this Thursday night is the one that turns it, from a crowd-standpoint, that we know. It’s an important part. It’s an advantage. Home-field advantage is real.”
It is a bit strange to hear Falcons fans have been somewhat placid considering their team has won three of their last four games. Not to mention, the luxurious Mercedes-Benz Stadium has the most affordable concession prices of any arena in the league.
Furthermore, there is plenty to be excited about in the coming weeks with Atlanta officially set to begin their run at a playoff berth. That said, the Falcons will need every advantage they can get in their division showdowns with both New Orleans and the Carolina Panthers coming to visit in two of their final four games the 2017 NFL season.
