The Atlanta Falcons are bringing back general manager Thomas Dimitroff and head coach Dan Quinn for next season, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

After the Falcons started their season 1-7, this didn't even seem like a possibility, but the team has played a lot better down the stretch. Heading into their Week 17 showdown against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Falcons have won five of their last seven games.

In a statement released by owner Arthur Blank, he made it clear the results on the field aren't good enough, but he has faith in Dimitroff and Quinn to turn the team around next season.

“Over the last two seasons our results on the field have not met our standard or the expectations of our fans,” said Blank via the Falcons team website. “I understand our fans’ disappointment and frustration because I’ve felt every bit of it as well. That said, our focus must be on giving our franchise the best opportunity to win next year and beyond. I have long believed that continuity in leadership is very important across all our businesses and the football team is no different in that regard. After weighing several factors, including our team’s statistical turnaround and our players’ focus and effort the second half of the season, I feel the decision to retain Thomas and Dan, with Rich providing close day-to-day oversight of the football operation, will provide the timeliest route for the Atlanta Falcons to return to contention in 2020 and beyond.”

Since taking over the Falcons head coaching job in 2015 he has a 45-39 victory. The pressure is going to be on Quinn and Dimitroff this upcoming season to get the Falcons back into the playoffs and make a deep run back into the Super Bowl.

This has to be peace of mind for Quinn knowing that no matter what happens on Sunday, he will have a job next season with the Falcons.
