Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan saw his streak of 163 straight starts come to an end this past Sunday, as an ankle injury sidelined him in the Falcons' loss to the Seattle Seahawks.

But with Atlanta having a bye week coming up in Week 9, Ryan should get ample time to rest, which head coach Dan Quinn says should put him in line to play in the Falcons' Week 10 matchup with the New Orleans Saints, per Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk.

Ryan initially suffered the injury during Atlanta's Week 8 loss against the Los Angeles Rams, a game in which he also happened to have his worst outing of the season when he completed 16 of his 27 passes for 159 yards and an interception.

On the 2019 campaign overall, Ryan has thrown for 2,170 yards, 15 touchdowns and eight picks while completing 70.9 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 98.7.

The Falcons have been one of the NFL's most disappointing teams this season.

Expected by many to contend for an NFC South division title and possibly even a Super Bowl appearance, Atlanta has gone just 1-7 over the first half of the year and has lost six consecutive games.

With an offense that includes Ryan, Devonta Freeman, Julio Jones, Calvin Ridley and Austin Hooper, not to mention a defense that was getting healthier after an injury-plagued 2018, it's hard to pinpoint why the Falcons have been playing so poorly.

Atlanta is well on its way to missing the playoffs for the second straight year, three years after making it all the way to the Super Bowl.
