With Matt Ryan turning 35 years old next month, the Atlanta Falcons may need to start thinking about their future at quarterback. Apparently, they already are.

According to Jason Butt of The Athletic, Falcons general manager Thomas Dimitroff said that the club is “always interested” in drafting quarterbacks. That came in response to a question about Atlanta reportedly eyeing signal-callers in this week's NFL Draft.

The Falcons own the 16th overall pick in Round 1 of the draft, which begins on Thursday.

Ryan is coming off of a 2019 campaign in which he threw for 4,466 yards, 26 touchdowns and 14 interceptions while completing 66.2 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 92.1.

The Exton, PA native, who played his collegiate football at Boston College, was originally selected by Atlanta with the third overall pick of the 2008 NFL Draft.

He was immediately named the Falcons' starting quarterback and finished with 3,440 yards, 16 touchdowns and 11 picks during his rookie season.

By his third year, Ryan was a Pro Bowler after throwing for 3,705 yards, 28 touchdowns and nine interceptions. That marked the first of four Pro Bowl appearances for Ryan, with his best season coming during the 2016-17 campaign when he totaled 4,944 yards, 38 touchdowns and seven picks while completing 69.9 percent of his throws and registering a passer rating of 117.1 en route to winning an MVP award. He also led the Falcons to a Super Bowl appearance that year.

Since then, Ryan has been inconsistent, taking a major step back in 2017. He rebounded with a strong season in 2018, but he was very much up and down this past year.

Atlanta went 7-9 in 2019.
