Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Calvin Ridley has spoken out after it was announced on Monday that he has been suspended by the league for the entire 2022 season. The 27-year-old was slapped by the league with a potentially career-changing penalty after it was revealed that Ridley bet on NFL games last season.

The Falcons star has now taken to Twitter to share his initial reaction to the news, and it isn't exactly the most ideal response:

According to Ridley, all he bet was $1,500 in total. This is a clear admission of his actions, which are totally against league policy. The NFL's rules are black and white when it comes to its players betting on games, so the fact of the matter here is that it doesn't matter if he bet a thousand or a million. He still broke the rules and he is now facing some major repercussions.

Ridley sent out another tweet shortly after, which was rather cryptic in nature:

It is unclear what exactly Ridley meant by this subsequent tweet and how it affects his current predicament. For what it's worth, the former Alabama standout was away from the team for most of the season, which is probably what he was referring to here. Nevertheless, he no longer explained why he “couldn't even watch football at that point.”

The Falcons WR came out with yet another tweet and this time around, it appears that Ridley had already accepted his fate:

It is worth noting that Ridley is still under contract with Atlanta through the 2023 season. This gives him another year with the Falcons after serving this coming season's suspension.
