If you didn't think the Atlanta Falcons' miserable 2019 campaign could get any worse, well, it just did.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Falcons wide receiver Calvin Ridley will miss the remainder of the season due to an abdominal injury he sustained during his team's win over the Carolina Panthers on Sunday.

Ridley logged five catches for 76 yards and a touchdown before being carted off the field in the defeat.

In 13 games this season overall, Ridley caught 63 passes for 866 yards and seven touchdowns, representing one of the few bright spots in what has been an incredibly disappointing year for Atlanta.

Ridley, who played his collegiate football at the University of Alabama, was originally selected by the Falcons in the first round (26th pick overall) of the 2018 NFL Draft.

The 24-year-old enjoyed a very impressive rookie campaign, playing in every game and hauling in 64 receptions for 821 yards and 10 scores.

Due to the presence of Ridley and Julio Jones in the aerial attack, plus the return of running back Devonta Freeman and a healthier defense, the Falcons were viewed as a darkhorse pick by many in the NFC.

However, Atlanta has not resembled a playoff team at any point this season, as its offense has been up and down and its defense has remained porous.

As a result, the Falcons are destined to miss the postseason for the second straight year after qualifying back-to-back seasons in 2016-17 and 2017-18, including a Super Bowl appearance in the former year.

Atlanta is just 4-9 on the season.
