In a tough blow for the Atlanta Falcons, the NFC South franchise will be without starting right guard Chris Lindstrom for some time as the offensive lineman suffered a fracture in a bone in his right foot during Week 1's defeat to the Minnesota Vikings.

The 22-year-old Lindstrom will be in a boot, according to the NFL's Tom Pelissero, and the timetable at the moment is “about eight weeks” before the tackle can return late-season for the Falcons. Additionally, the 6-foot-4, 310-pound lineman will likely head to the injury reserve (IR) list.

The Falcons selected Boston College product Lindstrom with their first-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. With the current prognosis looking like eight weeks, the rookie guard will miss a good chunk of his first season as a professional, unfortunately, and hurt Atlanta's offense from protecting franchise quarterback Matt Ryan in the pocket.

Atlanta started the season 0-1 after a bad loss against the Vikings on Sunday, 28-12. Despite throwing 33 completions for 304 yards, Ryan could not muster much offense for the Falcons on the road. Additionally, Ryan was brought to the ground on four sacks. Against a ground-and-pound Minnesota offense—which only completed eight passes and rushed 38 times—the Falcons' misery night with the ball was punctuated by two interceptions thrown by Ryan.

Four different Vikings defenders sacked Ryan, too, adding insult to injury as head coach Dan Quinn's rookie guard Lindstrom will watch the oncoming carnage from the sidelines for eight weeks.

Week 2 for the Falcons brings the Philadelphia Eagles for Atlanta's home opener on Sunday Night Football.
