The Atlanta Falcons have been without star running back Devonta Freeman for the past three weeks due to a knee injury. However, Falcons coach Dan Quinn remains hopeful he will have the Pro Bowler back for their upcoming game against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 5.

Freeman has been kept out by a knee contusion he suffered in the Falcons’ season opener against the Philadelphia Eagles. He finally returned to practice last week ahead of their game against the Cincinnati Bengals, but he wasn’t considered to be ready just yet.

The Falcons could certainly use Freeman back in the lineup after they fell to 1-3 on the season following back-to-back heartbreaking home losses to the Saints and Bengals.

While the Falcons have not had too many problems scoring in those two losses — they've put up 73 points in those games — their running game has still not been particularly great.

Tevin Coleman has been unable to step up in Freeman’s absence. After rushing for 107 yards in just 16 carries in his first start against the Panthers, Coleman has rushed for just 84 yards combined in his last two games.

Freeman should help take the pressure off of Coleman in the running game if he does return. Meanwhile, his ability as a pass-catcher from the backfield will also be a huge plus for the Falcons offense.

The Falcons will need all the firepower they have at their disposal to end their losing streak on the road against a Steelers team also reaching desperation mode after their slow start.
