The Atlanta Braves advanced to the NLCS for the first time since 2001 on Thursday after sweeping the Miami Marlins in the NLDS.

Falcons head coach Dan Quinn showed support for Atlanta's baseball squad, donning a Braves cap during his Zoom press conference on Friday morning.

Already, there are fears Quinn might have put a hex on the Braves' fortunes.

Of course, the Braves already have their work cut out as they prepare to take on the top-seeded Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 1 on Monday.

But fans could just as easily make Quinn the scapegoat, given the frustrations the Falcons have experienced with him at the helm.

The Falcons seemed to be on the rise as a sustainable contender in the NFC following their Super Bowl berth in the 2016 season. But things have gone downhill essentially since Atlanta blew a 28-3 lead to the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LI.

Although Atlanta made the playoffs in 2017, they were dispatched by the eventual champion Super Bowl Eagles in the Divisional Round. The Falcons have since missed the playoffs in each of the last two seasons, and are 0-4 to start the 2020 campaign.

There were rumblings of a potential coaching change after last year's failures, though the Falcons elected to retain Quinn. But it remains to be seen just how much longer Atlanta will allow Quinn to stay on as head coach given the team's continued struggles this season.

In any case, Braves fans will hope Quinn's showing of support does not serve as a “jinx” to their World Series dreams.
