Atlanta Falcons head coach Dan Quinn is in danger of losing his job after a 1-7 start to the 2019 season. If his team were to lose to the 7-1 New Orleans Saints on Sunday, his seat would be getting warmer.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Quinn's seat is already “quite warm.” Falcons owner Arthur Blank wants a clearer picture of the leadership of his team. The coach is being evaluated on a week to week basis. Blank wants to get through the Saints game to help make a determination of the coaching staff.

Before Atlanta's Week 9 bye, Blank stated he would take the next couple of weeks to evaluate things. Said Blank, via Tiffany Blackmon of NFL Network:

“I’m extraordinarily disappointed in the season. Nobody would have anticipated 1-7. And, the lack of consistency. Today was a prime example of that, down 24-nothing, if we just played that second half we would have won the game but it doesn’t work that way.

So, we’ll take the next couple of weeks during this period of time, evaluate where we are. Whatever decision we will have to make, it will be made for the right reasons in the long-term. We certainly have a lot of intelligence on this coaching staff… we got three general managers in this building beyond Thomas (Dimitroff), actually four.”

As Blank knows, the NFL is a results-driven business. Quinn has not given Atlanta the results expected out of him and the team.

If matters continue to take a turn for the worst, Atlanta may be looking for a new coach in 2020.
