While most people will probably picture Deion Sanders in a Dallas Cowboys jersey, the Hall of Fame cornerback actually spent the first five years of his NFL career with the Atlanta Falcons.

That memory may be fuzzy to some, but Sanders certainly hasn't forgotten.

As a matter of fact, 16 years ago, Sanders expressed his interest in coaching the Falcons.

“I can make them a better team, and I know that, because I know the things that really need to be done there,” Sanders told ESPN.com way back in 2003. “I put so much time into preparing every week for my Sunday job, watching tape and talking to players and coaches, that I still live football. It’s still a big part of me. I talk to head coaches and assistants, guys with whom I’m close, every week. I know what the job involves, believe me, and I know I can do it.”

At that time, Sanders had been retired from football for three years and was working as an NFL analyst with CBS. He would proceed to return to football in 2004, joining the Baltimore Ravens for a couple of seasons.

Obviously, Sanders never became the coach of Atlanta, but the 52-year-old is currently interesting in coaching his alma mater, Florida State, so the desire to coach a football team has never died.

While Sanders has no coaching experience outside of the high school ranks, you have to think that recruits would gravitate toward the Seminoles merely because of his presence, so there might be some legs here.
