Atlanta Falcons running back Devonta Freeman didn't practice Wednesday according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, and his status for Sunday's game is currently up in the air.

Freeman suffered the knee injury late in the first game against the Philadelphia Eagles and although it sounds like there is no structural damage he is still sore from the hit.

“Free is sore and we’ll hold him from practice today,” Falcons coach Dan Quinn said via The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “He got hit in the game, but nothing that’s more than we can treated it goes from day to day.

Freeman finished the first game rushing six times for 36 yards and also caught three passes for 14 yards. He played 39 of the 70 of the offensive snaps.

If Freeman were not able to go the Falcons are in a good position with Tevin Coleman on the roster. Coleman played 36 of the snaps against the Eagles, and he has shown he can handle a starters load when Freeman has been injured before.

The Falcons also signed running back Brian Hill off the practice squad. Hill was on the Falcons practice squad last year before being signed by the Cincinnati Bengals after Jeremy Hill was hurt. Hill appeared in seven games last year although not getting much run rushing for only 37 yards.

Hill spent this preseason with the Bengals before being one of the final cuts out of camp and signing to the Falcons practice squad. If Freeman can't go this weekend, expect Hill to get at least a few carries.
