The Atlanta Falcons are lined up for an NFC Wild Card matchup with the Los Angeles Rams on Saturday night.

There had been some minor concerns surrounding Pro Bowl running back Devonta Freeman due to him not practicing on Tuesday with a knee injury. However, head coach Dan Quinn stated he was “encouraged” by Freeman being able to participate in some capacity in practice on Wednesday, according to Kelsey Conway of Falcons.com.

Freeman has been hindered by injuries through much of the season but was able to play in the Week 17 win over the Carolina Panthers. With that in mind, the Falcons will continue to monitor his health over the next couple of days with clarity on his status for the contest likely reached by Friday.

The 25-year-old took a step back in his production failing to crack 1,000 rushing yards for the first time since his rookie campaign posting 865 yards with seven touchdowns in 14 games played. Despite his struggles, he and backup Tevin Coleman have provided steady production out of the backfield as being dual assets in both the running and passing game.

If he's unable to give it a go, expect Coleman to step in as the primary running back against the Rams. The 24-year-old had much success against Los Angeles last season recording both a rushing and receiving touchdown in the 42-14 win.
