The Atlanta Falcons have ensured that Julio Jones will remain with the team for the foreseeable future after making him the highest-paid receiver in the NFL.

The wideout reportedly inked a three-year, $66 million deal with the Super Bowl LI runners-up, effectively tying him to the team for the remainder of his athletic peak.

Plenty of fans are happy that their star wide receiver has decided to stay with Atlanta. The team is more than happy to reciprocate his loyalty and production with more money. Moreover, team GM Thomas Dimitroff is happy to get the deal over the line.

“We have obviously been going through discussions through months,” he said. “It always becomes a little more involved as you get closer and closer to the season. It was very important [for] us to have him signed, sealed, and delivered… He's agreed to terms and we're looking forward to him being on the field tomorrow.”

Dimitroff also answered why the team thought Jones was worth the money they spent on him.

“With a player like this who has the ability to perform on the field, turn games around, and turn defenses upside down when he's operating at the top of his game, we feel he can be a difference-maker at so many levels.”

Jones has justified the big paycheck he got over his first eight seasons in the NFL. He led the league in receiving yards for two seasons and yards per game in three. He was named to the Pro Bowl six times and First-Team All-Pro twice.

Now that his future is secured, Jones can now focus on taking the Falcons back to the Super Bowl.
