The 2018 NFL season has come to an end for the Atlanta Falcons with the team failing to make the playoffs. Although Matt Ryan and company are on the outside looking in on the postseason this year, the quarterback-wide receiver duo of Ryan and Julio Jones put up some monster numbers this season.

With the 2018 campaign now in the books for the Falcons, Jones' contract appears to have become a top priority for Atlanta moving forward. Falcons general manager has made it clear that Jones will be taken care of, via beat reporter William McFadden.

Jones' current contract has him playing in Atlanta through 2020. Dimitroff's comments seem to allude to the superstar wideout playing with the Falcons well beyond that, but it remains to be seen how much his extension will be worth.

New York Giants star Odell Beckham Jr. set the bar high for wide receivers after inking his extension with the team this past year. Beckham signed a deal worth $95 million, and it's safe to say Jones will want to a deal that rivals that number, especially after the season he had.

Despite the fact Jones isn't a wide receiver that gets in the end zone very often cracking double digits in that category only once in his career, there's no question is among the league's elite at his position and worthy of a lucrative extension.

In 16 games during the 2018 campaign, the Falcons wideout caught 113 passes, which is the most receptions he's had since 2015, for an NFL-high 1,677 receiving yards and eight touchdowns.
