Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones has not been present at the team's voluntary offseason workouts, but he also did not attend last year, so even though he is looking for a new deal, his absence is not that alarming.

Even if you were worried about Jones and the Falcons not agreeing to a new contract before the season, you might finally be able to exhale.

According to Jeff Schultz of The Athletic, Atlanta and Jones are not far apart on an extension, with Schultz stating that the deal could be finalized within the next few weeks.

Jones has two years remaining on his current deal and is scheduled to make $9.6 million this coming season and $11.4 million in 2020.

But, it looks like he might be earning a much bigger payday soon.

The 30-year-old is coming off a 2018 campaign in which he led the NFL with 1,677 receiving yards, also totaling 113 receptions and eight touchdowns on his way to the Pro Bowl.

Jones, who played collegiate football at the University of Alabama, was originally selected by the Falcons with the sixth overall pick of the 2011 NFL Draft.

Since entering the league, Jones has made six Pro Bowl appearances while also earning a couple of First-Team All-Pro selections. In addition to pacing the NFL in receiving yards this past year, Jones also led the league in that category back in 2015 as well as topping everyone in receptions, tallying 136 catches for 1,871 yards. He also reached the end zone eight times on top of that.
