Earlier this week, Atlanta Falcons head coach Dan Quinn voiced that the team's plan moving forward in the preseason will be to rest their both Pro Bowlers in running back Devonta Freeman and Julio Jones until the start of the regular season.

It hasn't taken long for both players to come out in support of the decision made by their head coach, which Jones has revealed that they have spoken to Quinn about it and will be ready to go come Week 1 against the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles, according to D. Orlando Ledbetter of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

“I support him,” Jones said of coach Dan Quinn’s decision to hold the non-injured player out of exhibition games on Wednesday. “We talked about it. I’m going to be ready to go. I’m getting plenty of reps and stuff like that in practice. I’m going against some great guys, too.”

The Falcons are going to a set plan for their team to have two of their most valuable offensive factors healthy and ready to go for the start of the 2018 season. This is a reasonable plan given the injury history of both players over the last few seasons. Freeman has suffered three concussion since November 2015 along with a right knee injury near the tail end of the 2017 season.

Atlanta is counting on him to once again lead their running game as he has proven in his first four seasons to be a game-changing talent. The 26-year-old is coming off another productive year where he had 865 rushing yards with seven touchdowns along with 36 catches for 317 receiving yards and a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Jones has been able to battle through the injuries to stay on the field, but there is no reason to risk their No.1 wide receiver's health in preseason action. Jones also experienced a strong 2017 season where he posted 88 catches for 1,444 receiving yards and three touchdowns, which marked the fourth straight year with at least 80 catches and 1,400 receiving yards. The decision to sit both Freeman and Jones should work for the betterment of the team come the start of the regular season in a couple of weeks.
