The Atlanta Falcons will not have much time to recover with a matchup against the New Orleans Saints on Thursday night. Regardless, wide receiver Julio Jones is still holding out hope for his status.

Jones picked up an AC joint sprain in the loss to the Tampa Bay buccaneers. According to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport, he is still optimistic about his status versus the Saints on Thanksgiving.

Falcons WR Julio Jones (AC joint sprain) is optimistic that he can play tomorrow, though he's listed as questionable.

The prospect of Jones having to it out would undoubtedly deal a crushing blow to Atlanta's receiving corps. Although the shortened week has not done him any favors, he appears to be adamant about wanting to be available for this NFC South showdown.

Jones' lack of participation in practice should hardly come as any surprise with limited days to rest. The Falcons are likely taking every precaution they can to ensure that he is good to go in Week 13. Even if he plays, they may have to monitor his health throughout the course of the game.

Regardless, having Jones back would provide a much-needed boost for Atlanta. He has been one of the few bright spots of this struggling offense in the 2019 NFL season after registering 64 catches for 950 yards and four touchdowns through 11 games. The fact that he has still managed to put up stellar numbers amidst an abysmal year for the Falcons solidifies his status as the gold standard when it comes to elite NFL wideouts.
