The Atlanta Falcons suffered their first loss of the season Sunday at the hands of the Buffalo Bills, 23-17. That’s not the only setback they drew from the game, however, as they saw top their top wide receiver Julio Jones get injured

Jones sustained a hip flexor injury just before the conclusion of the first half. This caused the 28-year-old wideout to exit to the locker room and stay off the field for the remainder of the game.

Jones, who dealt with a back injury heading into Week 4, left the game with just 30 receiving yards on three catches. He has been up-and-down so far this season, and this injury only adds to the frustration of his fantasy owners and concern for a Falcons offense that also lost Mohamed Sanu in the same game due to a hamstring injury.

Luckily for Atlanta, Jones is not expected to miss any time. Per ESPN's Adam Schefter:

Wide receiver Julio Jones is not expected to miss any playing time despite his hip flexor injury.

Sanu will be out two-to-three weeks, according to ESPN's Vaughn McClure.

Atlanta head coach Dan Quinn offered an explanation as to why they decided to call it a day for Jones in the postgame interview, per ESPN's Vaughn McClure.

“He had trouble just exploding, and if he can't be him, that's a unique thing for him,” Quinn said. “The speed, the explosiveness — so when he wasn't able to do that, that's when we had to pull him. He definitely wanted to go.”

The timing of Jones’ injury at least affords him a longer recovery time, as the Falcons have a Week 5 bye and will be back in action on October 22 in Foxborough against the New England Patriots.
