Regardless of how the Atlanta Falcons finish the season, Matt Ryan continues to produce. After completing a pass early in Sunday's game, Ryan has become only the 10th player in NFL history with 50,000 passing yards per Jason Butt.

Before Sunday's game against the Carolina Panthers, Ryan had 49,966 yards in 185 starts in the NFL. A 14-yard completion to Russell Gage on Atlanta's second drive of the game put him over 50,000 passing yards in his career.

The only other quarterbacks to achieve the feat include Drew Brees, Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Brett Favre, Dan Marino, Philip Rivers, Ben Roethlisberger, Eli Manning, and John Elway. That is quite the class of quarterbacks to be mentioned in the same sentence with.

Over the years, many have criticized Ryan's ability to perform well in big-time moments. At the same time, there's no arguing how impressive his numbers are during the regular season.

Since the Falcons drafted him in 2008, Ryan has put together a remarkable career. Even with an ankle injury costing him a game, Ryan is on track to finish this season with over 4,000 yards and 20 touchdowns.

By doing so, Ryan would have nine straight seasons of contributing those numbers. Unfortunately, it will be another season where the talent on Atlanta's offense is wasted.

After cementing his name alongside some of the greats in NFL history, it will be interesting to see if Ryan makes the Hall of Fame when it is all said and done. Without a doubt, his regular-season numbers are enough to make a case.
