Through his first seven seasons in the league, Atlanta Falcons star wide receiver Julio Jones has established himself as one of the elite players at his position. He has continued to show just that throughout his career behind his production and often times utter dominance on the field.
Heading into his eighth year, Jones has taken that another step further by working out this offseason with Pro Football Hall of Famer Terrell Owens. With that in mind, former league MVP Matt Ryan voiced much praise toward his teammate for taking that step this offseason to link up with one of the greats at his position, according to D. Orlando Ledbetter of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
“T.O. is one of the best workers of all time,” Ryan said. “He learned from Jerry Rice and kind of modeled his stuff after that. I think the more you surround yourself with guys with a work ethic like that it’s a good thing. Julio has a great work ethic, too. He’s one of the best conditioned and best working athletes that I’ve ever been around.”
Behind decisions like this, Jones has helped elevate himself further in the discussion as best wide receivers in the league alongside the likes of Antonio Brown, Odell Beckham Jr., Larry Fitzgerald and A.J. Green. Each of these wideouts has been touted for their tremendous work ethic that has played a major part of their success on the field.
The 29-year-old has been a highly productive player up to this point in his career recording more than 1,000 receiving yards in five of his first seven seasons with the Falcons, including the last four straight years while setting a career-best mark with 136 receptions back in the 2015 campaign. Jones possesses the complete package at the position with his big-play ability coupled with strong hands and ideal body frame for the position at 6-foot-4 and 220 pounds.
With him taking this step toward ramping up his workout regimen with the help of a Hall of Famer, it clearly shows how dedicated he is to his craft. This could also mark what could be another impressive campaign for the Falcons' star wideout in 2018.
