The Atlanta Falcons made one of the bigger moves this offseason when they signed veteran free agent Todd Gurley.

Gurley is still in the prime of his career as an elite superstar running back. And he adds what could be one of the missing pieces to an Atlanta team that could contend for a Super Bowl in 2020.

As you probably could have guessed, fans of the Falcons are pretty excited about the signing. So is the front office and coaching staff, as well as the players themselves.

One of those players is superstar quarterback Matt Ryan. According to Falcons reporter Kelsey Conway, Ryan had this to say about Gurley and what impressed him the most.

Ryan has already spent some time with Gurley and has gotten to know the Falcons' new running back. So there were plenty of opportunities to learn everything about him.

And in that time, it was the smarts of Gurley that got him. His ability to retain concepts. That should not come as a surprise to many.

Gurley has been one of the best running backs in the league since he was drafted back in 2015. You don't stay as consistently dangerous as Gurley has been without being a smart player.

It is evident in his game too. You can see how he reads a defense, finds the right holes and tends to always make the right plays.

Pairing Gurley with Ryan and wide receiver Julio Jones (among others) is definitely more than enough to excite Falcons fans in the first place. Now knowing that their quarterback and new running back have good chemistry and that Ryan is already impressed, that has to add a whole new level of buzz around this team.

This could be a match made in Heaven.
