The Atlanta Falcons are coming off of a disappointing 2018 campaign in which they won seven games and missed the playoffs, but they are just three seasons removed from making the Super Bowl.

With a healthier roster heading into 2019, quarterback Matt Ryan thinks the Falcons can make it back to the promised land.

“The group of guys that we have, we have a locker room of competitive, hardworking, unselfish people, and I think it’s the people in our building that give us a great chance to get back and obviously hopefully win a Super Bowl,” Ryan said, according to Vaughn McClure of ESPN.com. “We’ve got a great coaching staff. We’ve got a combination of guys that are going to try and put the players that we have in the best position to be successful.”

Ryan may have a point.

Remember: the Falcons were missing running back Devonta Freeman and linebacker Deion Jones for most of the past season, and with those guys back in the fold and offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter making his return, Ryan is feeling confident.

“At the end of the day, it’s about us, though,” Ryan said in reference to the coaching staff. “We respect those guys and appreciate what they do, but our focus is on how good can we play and how good of a team can we become because we have all the pieces we need to be successful.”

The 34-year-old threw for 4,924 yards, 35 touchdowns, and seven interceptions while completing 69.4 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 108.1 this past year.
