The Atlanta Falcons have promoted running back Jeremy Langford to the active roster, according to Will McFadden of the Falcons' official team website.

Langford last played in the NFL with the Chicago Bears back in 2016, rushing for 200 yards and four touchdowns while averaging 3.2 yards per carry. He also caught 19 passes for 142 yards.

The 27-year-old, who starred at Michigan State for a couple of years, was originally selected by the Bears in the fourth round (106th pick overall) of the 2015 NFL Draft.

He played in all 16 games during his rookie campaign, finishing with 537 yards and six scores while recording 3.6 yards per attempt. In addition, he hauled in 22 receptions for 279 yards while reaching the end zone once.

Langford had spectacular junior and senior campaigns at Michigan State, racking up 1,422 yards and 18 touchdowns during his junior season and then finishing out his Spartans career by totaling 1,522 yards and 22 scores in his final year.

The Falcons are coming off of a blowout 40-14 win over the Arizona Cardinals, snapping a five-game losing streak in which they scored 20 points just once.

With the win, Atlanta improved to 5-9 in what has been a disappointing season.

The Falcons will miss the playoffs for the first time since 2015. Last year, they fell to the Philadelphia Eagles in the Divisional Round, and during the 2016-17 campaign, Atlanta famously blew a 28-3 lead against the New England Patriots to lose the Super Bowl.

The Falcons will be on the road for their final two weeks of the season, first battling the Carolina Panthers and then wrapping things up with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
