Kaleb McGary, the right tackle taken by the Atlanta Falcons in the first round of last year's NFL Draft, has sprained his MCL according to a report by ESPN's Adam Schefter.

While the extent of the injury is unknown until an MRI is completed Monday, McGary collapsed near the end zone in the first quarter of the Falcon's match against the Dallas Cowboys. That the injury appeared to be one of non-contact only added to the fears of the severity, as the sophomore pro was unable to stand and bear any weight on the leg. Eventually needing the assistance of the medical staff to leave the field, the right tackle was replaced by backup Matt Gono.

Though McGary exited with Atlanta off to an early lead against the Cowboys—ultimately gaining a 20-0 advantage over the beleaguered Dallas squad in the first quarter—the Falcons were left helpless, as Dak Prescott led a rousing comeback to take a 40-39 decision. With Dallas aided by two forced fumbles from Atlanta quarterback Matt Ryan, McGary's absence will likely worsen an offensive line considered key to any potential Falcons' success.

After a loss that is certain to bring comparisons to their Super Bowl implosion in 2017—a game in which they similarly lost a lead in excess of 20-points—the Falcons will head into Week 3 agains the Chicago Bears in desperate need of a win to avoid an 0-3 start.

That they may be without their starting right tackle, will only add to the concern of head coach Dan Quinn.
