The Atlanta Falcons are among the teams that may be set to trade up in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft.

As usual, there are plenty of rumors surrounding which teams could make moves in the draft, and the Falcons seem to be in that group.

Atlanta currently holds the No. 16 pick, and with the team in need of more playmakers on defense, trading up to land someone like Auburn defensive tackle Derrick Brown, South Carolina defensive tackle Javon Kinlaw, or Florida cornerback CJ Henderson would make sense.

And it appears that those in NFL circles are backing up the thought that the Falcons will make a move in the first round, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network:

One team that appears poised to make some noise with a move up is the #Falcons. They have spent a lot of times evaluating and talking to players who figure to be gone by No. 16… and when other teams do their projections, they believe Atlanta will be on the move.

While there has been speculation that Atlanta could maneuver its way into selecting Tua Tagovailoa, that doesn't seem likely.

Instead, the Falcons pursuing a top defensive talent would probably be the better move considering their struggles on defense in recent seasons.

As for who Atlanta could trade with in order to move up several spots, that's more of a guessing game. Some of the teams in front of them are expected to target offensive linemen and wide receivers, so it's possible that the Falcons could stay put and still land an elite defensive player.

But the Falcons' trading up will also likely depend on potential moves in the top five, with the Detroit Lions and New York Giants both rumored to be teams that could trade back in the draft.
