In a season plagued by injuries thus far the Falcons have gotten some good news on the injury front.

Cornerback Kendall Sheffield has been cleared to return from a foot injury that has kept him out of action for the first three weeks of the season.

Kendall, who is entering his second season in the NFL, played nickel back in his rookie season but now will be moved to a main cornerback role following the injuries to cornerback AJ Terrell, who is still on the reserve/COVID-19 list, as well as starting nickel back Darquieze Dennard, who is still on the injured reserve for at least the next three weeks.

Sheffield will have his work cut out for him in his first game back, having to face Aaron Rodgers and the red hot Green Bay Packers. Sheffield understands the challenge he is up against this week.

“It’s going to be very tough, but I’m up for it and I believe in my abilities,” said Sheffield following Saturday’s practice. “The coaches that I’ve got have got us ready for this game, so I’ll be ready.”

The Falcons have had a rough go of it on the injury front thus far this season, especially in the secondary. Along with Terrell and Dennard, both starting safeties, Keanu Neal and Ricardo Allen, have been ruled out for Sunday's matchup, which will make the Falcons work much harder against Rodgers and the Packers offense. The Falcons will be looking to Sheffield to play a big role in limiting the passing game.
