Even with former Clemson Tigers quarterback Trevor Lawrence coming off the board at No. 1 overall to the lowly Jacksonville Jaguars, a selection that was immediately followed by two more signal-callers to round out the top four picks on Thursday evening, an argument can still be made that tight end Kyle Pitts is the best all-around player in this year's NFL Draft. Pitts will now set out to prove that notion to be correct as a member of the Atlanta Falcons, who notably selected the former Florida Gators tight end at no. 4 overall in the first round.
Despite the fact that quarterback and wide receivers are widely expected to dominate the early portion of the first round this time around, it is worth noting that Pitts has received praise from every conceivable angle and direction throughout the offseason–and deservedly so.
The 20-year-old tight end stands at 6-foot-6 and weighs just shy of 250 pounds, so he is no doubt a force to be reckoned with. Last season at Florida, Pitts produced 43 receptions for 770 yards and 12 touchdowns while averaging 17.9 yards per reception. Although that production doesn't seem like much with all of the acclaim that has come his way, Pitts only appeared in eight games for the Gators in what would become his final collegiate season.
If you watched even a few minutes of any game that Kyle Pitts did suit up for last season, it probably didn't take you very long to realize that he was the most dominant player on the field.
