Week 1 action is days away and fantasy football fans are already gearing their lineup towards the opening week proceedings. Since this is only the first rendition of the start 'em sit 'em projections for the season, the only basis will be the quarterbacks' performances in the previous season.

However, knowing the right players to start and sit will still be crucial for fantasy football fans to get a good head start against their counterparts in their respective leagues. The statistics are solely based on points per reception (PPR) scoring.

Here are the start 'em sit 'em quarterbacks in your lineups for Week 1 of fantasy football:

QBs to Start in Week 1

Colts' Philip Rivers (vs. Jaguars)

Quarterback Philip Rivers will aim to start his tenure in Indianapolis with a good showing in the opening game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Fortunately for him, the Jaguars' defensive rotation wasn't the same powerhouse that it once was three years ago. Their offense isn't close to spectacular either.

The 16-year veteran will be having multiple weapons at his disposal that will help him exploit the dismal Jaguars defense. The game's circumstances allow Rivers to be an optimal choice for fantasy football fans to start as starting QB in Week 1.

Eagles' Carson Wentz (vs. Washington Football Team)

The quality of weapons that surrounded Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz was mainly put into question last season. In fact, only a few of his supporting cast became regular contributors week in and week out during their 2019 campaign.

The training camp also saw a handful of Eagles' linemen suffer injuries but the front office has put effort to surround Wentz with better pieces heading into the upcoming season. Returning wide receiver DeSean Jackson, veteran tight end Zach Ertz, backup tight end Dallas Goedert, and sophomore running back Miles Sanders are all in the mix to pose threats against Washington.

Wentz also had his best games of 2019 against their division rival and scored 25 and 21.5 fantasy points in those two games last season, respectively. With more depth around him, the North Dakota State standout should be able to replicate or even exceed his fantasy scoring against Washington this time around.

Bills' Josh Allen (vs. Jets)

Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen is entering his third season with higher expectations for the team to make a deep playoff run and eventually reach the Super Bowl stage. With a more potent threat on the wings in wide receiver Stefon Diggs, Allen is put in a good position to ball out in the upcoming fantasy football season.

The Wyoming product will look to take advantage of a dismal New York Jets defense which saw their best defensive ace walk away during the offseason. Gang Green also allowed the most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks over the final five weeks of the 2019 season, despite them having a streak of late wins in that stretch. Expect Josh Allen to make a statement and contribute a multitude of points for his fantasy owners in the Bills' opening game.

Other QBs to start: Patriots' Cam Newton (vs. Dolphins), Steelers' Ben Roethlisberger (vs. Giants), Buccaneers' Tom Brady (vs. Saints)

QBs to Sit in Week 1

Packers' Aaron Rodgers (vs. Vikings)

Quarterback Aaron Rodgers and the rest of the Green Bay Packers will collide with division rival Minnesota Vikings in what should be a tight encounter between the two teams. Luck was hard to come by for the Wisconsin-based team as they finished with a 1-3 record in their last four visits to Minnesota.

The uneventful showing of the Packers was highlighted by the subpar performances of Rodgers on all four occasions. Despite losing defensive end Everson Griffen, the Vikings will still have a stifling defense to welcome their opponents. Newcomer Yannick Ngakoue will join two-time Pro Bowl defensive end Danielle Hunter in the trenches ready to haunt the two-time NFL MVP in their opening game.

Browns' Baker Mayfield (vs. Ravens)

The Cleveland Browns' redemption season will kick-off as they go against their dominant division rival in the Baltimore Ravens. However, there are still doubts whether Baker Mayfield has already improved to the point where he can already power through against a veteran-laden Ravens defensive line.

Starting the third-year player will still be a big risk to make for fantasy football fans who have him on their roster. Basing from his performance last season and during the offseason, Mayfield should be sitting in fantasy rosters for Week 1. It is better to insert him to the starting lineup during weeks when they are playing against non-contenders in order to fully maximize his productivity.

Saints' Drew Brees (vs. Buccaneers)

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive line certainly overshadows their defensive shore, especially with all the big-name acquisitions on that side of the field. The Bucs' formidable defensive line is still going to be headlined by sophomore linebacker Devin White, All-Pro linebacker Jason Pierre-Paul, 2019 Pro Bowl linebacker Shaq Barrett, and hulking defensive end Ndamukong Suh.

Despite the caliber of player that Drew Brees is, it is most likely that he will have a hard time in his Week 1 matchup against the Buccaneers defensive line. Over the course of the final five weeks of 2019, the defense tightened up and only gave up a total of four passing touchdowns while also collecting five interceptions. An intact defensive core plus rookie safety Antonie Winfield Jr. will definitely make life harder for the future Hall of Fame quarterback in their Week 1 matchup.

Other QBs to sit: Giants' Daniel Jones (vs. Steelers), Rams' Jared Goff (vs. Cowboys), Titans' Ryan Tannehill (vs. Denver)
