As the NFL enters Week 5, fantasy football is in full swing. After an action-packed Week 4 saw many highlights and many under performances. Disappointed fantasy managers are now searching waiver wires to make adjustments. In order to do so, players must be dropped to make room for new (and hopefully improved) additions.

With that, here are some players that should be dropped heading in to Week 5 of the 2021 season.

2021 Fantasy Football Week 5 Drop List

Fantasy Football Week 5 Drop List: Tough Choices

Myles Gaskin – Miami Dolphins

Many people had high expectations for Myles Gaskin heading into the 2021 season. He started off 2020 very strong but slowed down due to injury. 2021 was supposed to be his comeback year, but it just hasn't played out that way.

Gaskin started out okay in Week 1, he rushed 9 times for 49 yards and caught 5 balls for 27 yards. But, he has yet to match that fantasy performance. Week 4 was the ultimate dud of a performance for Gaskin who rushed a total of 2 times for 3 yards.

The Dolphins running back is trending in the wrong direction. After being out carried in Week 4 by both Malcolm Brown and Quarterback Jacoby Brissett, Gaskin should be let go.

Brandon Aiyuk – San Francisco 49ers

Brandon Aiyuk is an athletic playmaker. He was at the top of many experts lists as a breakout candidate for the 2021 season after a promising rookie year. However, it has not turned out well for the second year receiver. It is unknown whether it is because of a nagging hamstring injury or a lack of playing time. Fantasy managers have not been able to start Aiyuk this season with confidence.

Those who started Aiyuk in Week 1 will remember his stat line, 0 targets, 0 receptions, 0 fantasy points. This was followed by a single reception in week 2 for a measly 6 yards. Week 3 had the young receiver showing flashes of last season, actually receiving a touchdown. But Week 4 quickly brought Aiyuk back down to another lone reception.

At this point Deebo Samuel is the clear favorite receiver in San Francisco and fantasy managers need to move on from Aiyuk. He may pick things up, but it just doesn't seem worth keeping him on the roster.

Fantasy Football Drop List: Easier Decisions

Jimmy Garoppolo – San Francisco 49ers

Jimmy Garoppolo suffered a calf injury in the first half of Week 4's matchup against the Seattle Seahawks. This may prove to be a big set back for the vet. Garoppolo had been having a solid 2021 campaign leading up to this injury. After leaving the game Garoppolo opened the door for rookie third overall pick, Trey Lance, to come in and take care of business.

Trey Lance threw for 157 yards and 2 TDs, while rushing for 41 on 7 attempts. The rookie looked good against the division rival.

The 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan made it clear in the preseason that Garoppolo would be the starting quarterback. However, after an impressive game by Trey Lance and an injury to Jimmy G the future is uncertain. Everything might be coming together for the rookie to take over.

If Garoppolo comes back and takes over the starting role he will remain an adequate, yet underwhelming, starter. But with Trey Lance on the sidelines ready to take over, Garoppolo is not worth stashing.

Will Fuller V – Miami Dolphins

RECOMMENDED (Article Continues Below)

Will Fuller missed the last 5 games of the 2020 season, but was tearing it up before that. He had nearly 900 receiving yards across the first 11 weeks and showed no signs of slowing down. He was one of those guys that heading into 2021 people were excited about because of his big play ability and downfield speed. But 2021 has not been kind to the sixth year vet.

Fuller was sidelined in the first two weeks and was pulled out of Week 4's matchup against the Colts due to a hand injury. In the two games that he did play he was not a factor, maxing out at three receptions for 20 yards.

Additionally, without Tua Tagovailoa for the foreseeable future, the speedy vet does not have a quarterback to support his big play ability. Fuller should be let go in all leagues.

Obvious Choice:  Mark Ingram – Houston Texans

Mark Ingram showed promise in Week 1 when he was given the ball 26 times. Even though he only rushed for 85 yards he managed to get in the end zone and any running back with that amount of volume has immense fantasy value.

After Week 1 Ingram has seen a consistent decrease in volume carrying the ball 14 times in Week 2, 6 times in Week 3, and finally only 4 times in Week 4. Now that Ingram's one redeeming quality seems to have disappeared he should be an easy drop for owners.

Fantasy football will continue on and managers who are struggling should look to drop these players and find replacements in order to keep their hopes of a championship alive.
