According to his mother, Nix’s close friends also don’t have any knowledge about his current situation.

“Last communication of anyone seeing him was Tuesday,” she said via Pro Football Talk. “Can’t call him because voice mail is full and people he talks to daily have not heard from him. Not like him.”

It wasn’t the first time that Nix was involved in an off-field issue. Back in December of 2020, the lineman was shot as he was putting air in his tires. The shot eventually reached his lung and needed surgery to remove it. According to Nix’s mother, the player didn’t like going out ever since the incident happened but she still believes that the two occurrences are not related to one another.

Louis Nix was a three-year letterman for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish before he was selected by the Houston Texans with the 83rd pick in the 2014 NFL Draft. Due to a handful of knee surgeries, Nix failed to see significant action for the Texans which led them to drop him off their roster by the end of his rookie season.

Louis Nix was eventually claimed off waivers by the New York Giants where he stayed for a year before completing short stints with the practice squads of the then-Washington Redskins and the Jacksonville Jaguars back in 2016.
