The battle to become Stephen Curry's next backup is heating up, as the Golden State Warriors continue to work out different guards for the job. The newest player to enter this competition is someone who already familiar with playing for the Warriors and Curry.

According to TheWarriorsTalk on Twitter, the Warriors front office will hold a multi-day workout with former Golden State PG Quinn Cook.

“Quinn Cook will have a multi-day workout with the Golden State Warriors this week, a source tells me.

Cook played two seasons with Golden State and was part of their 2018 championship team. He fits the mold of that ball-handling backup guard they are looking for.

Cook is just the latest in a long line of point guards that the Warriors have been looking at to ease Stephen Curry's workload during the season. Isaiah Thomas, Darren Collison and Ryan Arcidiacono have all been rumored to work out for Golden State recently. As the tweet suggests, Cook fits the bill for the backup ball-handler role that the Warriors have been searching for. He also has the added benefit of familiarity, having played for Steve Kerr before and finding success with the team.

The Warriors are looking to make a push to win the championship this season. The Dubs' front-office has talked about contending for a title behind their original trio of Stephen Curry, Draymond Green and the returning Klay Thompson. Adding a backup point guard will allow the Warriors to rest their star point for longer and keep him in relatively great shape in the playoffs. All four guards that have worked out for GSW are great selections, including Cook, so this is a win-win situation for the team no mater what happens.
