Alexander Albon shares a brutally honest take on the misconception over Red Bull's desire for effective results, portraying the team as a “villain” in Formula 1.

Albon secured a Formula 1 seat for 2022 with Williams after losing his position with Red Bull last year.

After joining Red Bull as a mid-season replacement for Pierre Gasly in 2019, Albon was declared a reserve driver after failing to match Max Verstappen's performances that year.

Gasly's time with Red Bull was brief, lasting for just 12 races, leading to questions on how the team handles its junior drivers, drawing criticism for not giving them enough chances to develop and adjust with their cars.

However, Albon admits that there was a “misconception” surrounding the issue.

“I think there is of course that villain role played, I think within the media, about it all,” Albon said in the latest episode of the F1 Nation podcast.

“But it’s definitely nowhere near like that, basically.”

Albon further explains that the push for results is only part of the team's culture.

“They expect good results. It’s the culture within the team, if we’re not winning, we’re not happy, and that’s kind of how it should be really.

As of now, this winning culture by Red Bull has been evident. The team currently sits at second of Formula 1's constructor standings behind Mercedes.
